Create Onsight were tasked to create a promotional piece of literature that demonstrated their vision, values, experience, technical ability, creativity in print and reliability. The project was planned alongside PCP and includes various special print techniques from a foil blocked cover to spot and drip off varnishes… this brochure has it all!

Our brief was to present PCP at the forefront of new print technology, hence the phrase ‘The best way to predict the future is to create it’, placed over an image of their new Komoro printing press. Other content includes information on the development of the business over the years, case studies and quotes from previous print jobs and information on PCP’s green credentials and vision and values. The result is modern, colorful and creative example of design and print.

The final design was then carried over various trade publication adverts is various giving a consistent look and feel to the campaign. Due to the success of the project there are already plans to produce an updated version in 2019.

Read All About it! Artwork design for two exciting shows at the old Coventry Evening Telegraph building

Read All About it! Artwork design for two exciting shows at the old Coventry Evening Telegraph building

The iconic, 1950s Coventry Evening Telegraph building is a landmark. Its storeys are heavy with stories. The dusty air of the now abandoned newsroom is thick with them – flying from desk to desk soundtracked by the faint, staccato echo of long-silenced typewriters, dashing to deliver the day’s deadline copy.

Situated just over the road from the Belgrade Theatre – another hub for city storytelling – the Coventry Evening Telegraph building will soon enjoy a new lease of life as a beautiful hotel. But before that, for a brief moment in time, it will become a theatre.

This architectural gem will host two extraordinary, site-specific productions using drama, digital, puppetry and dance to explore the city’s rich history.

One show, City Final, sees the Belgrade Theatre youth and community groups take audiences on an exciting journey against a looming deadline, around the cavernous building and through the last 50 years of Coventry life. There are two different routes for this performance, Route A and Route B. If you are in a wheelchair or have other mobility or access needs we recommend you book for Route B which is on one level and more accessible. For more information about the different routes, visit the City Final show page.

While Mercurial Dance’s show, Retold, offers audiences a unique cabaret-style show inspired by their very own, personal memories. The action plays out in the Telegraph’s foyer where generations of people came to share their news with the paper.

Hold the presses, and become part of the story as you join us on this thrilling journey through time.

These performances are part of the Coventry Great Place project supported by Heritage Lottery Fund, Arts Council England, Coventry University, University of Warwick, Coventry City Council and Coventry Business Improvement District.

Create Onsight were commissioned by the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry to design and produce artwork for two shows, Retold and City Final. The brief was to create a design that would promote the theatrical dance aspect of the shows, but also promote the one off use of the unusual location, the old Coventry Telegraph building.

The typographic style within the title treatment is inspired directly from the original Coventry Telegraph Newspaper masthead, whilst the imagery of a falling performer was superimposed in Photoshop. Take a look below to see how we created the artwork from montaging various images together to create the desired effect.

The finished design was translated into posters, website banners, outdoor advertising, flyers, banner stands and lamp post banners.

ABOUT TASTE VIETNAM

"When you think of Vietnam you think of its rich and diverse cuisine, full of flavour, spice and variety.

My name is Van, the founder and owner of Taste Vietnam. I found myself fortunate to be born in the countryside, not too far from the centre of Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Since being in the UK and away from home, I have longed for the taste of authentic Vietnamese food, which became an inspiration for opening my own restaurant. Taste Vietnam brings Vietnamese dishes, that have been developed from family recipes, to the people of Coventry.

If you have ever heard of Vietnamese baguettes then you must definitely visit us at Taste Vietnam, I'm sure you will not be disappointed.  The taste of our traditional style barbecue sauce accompanied with our home made cake mix will give you that warm and fulfilling feeling.

Why not try our special Taste Vietnam Pho, a noodle soup? The smell of Pho is amazing and will warm you up on a cold winters day. There are also a wide variety of other Vietnamese authentic, amazing dishes, that you should come and try.

We are always waiting with a friendly smile, ready to serve you."

Taste Vietnam logo close up.jpg

Create Onsight were commissioned to design a new brand for Taste Vietnam that reflected its founders heritage and cultural roots, yet appealing to perspective clients, the people of Coventry.

The logo was designed to have immediate impact and relate to the product offer, authentic Vietnamese food. The modern, retro style of typography within an ornate circle gives the logo impact and authority, whilst the simple bowl icon says exactly what is on offer.

The new brand was carried consistently across a new menu and website reflecting the food and heritage of Taste Vietnam yet firmly placing the brand within the city of Coventry.

 BEFORE our branding work.

BEFORE our branding work.

 AFTER our branding work.

AFTER our branding work.

We were tasked with moving the Hope For The Community brand forward to reflect its dynamic values. We developed a core idea, for such an emotive subject, to inject confidence and consistency into the brand.

The B2B brand has been reinvigorated with a new look and feel and people-focussed imagery that energises both clients and staff. Concentric circles were used as a graphic device to create movement within the design and the icons create interest and define the inidivual brands.

We have brought the brand to life with a new stylish website and re-design of the iHope platform, interactive brochures, leaflets, posters, banners stands and event litertaure as well as course materials.

Belgrade Theatre What's On Spring/Summer 2018 brochure design

Belgrade Theatre What's On Spring/Summer 2018 brochure design

The Belgrade Theatre was built in 1958 as part of the reconstruction of Coventry after World War II. Holding 858 in its two-tier main auditorium, and 250-300 in the flexible, new second space, B2, it remains one of the largest regional producing theatres in Britain.

The Belgrade acquired its name in recognition and thanks for a gift of timber from the Serbian capital city of Belgrade, that was used in the construction of the auditorium. The Belgrade soon became renowned for its programme of exciting new drama and early Company members at the Theatre included Trevor Nunn, Ian McKellen, John Gunter, Joan Plowright, Michael Crawford, Frank Finlay and Leonard Rossiter, with Arnold Wesker and David Turner among the new dramatists.

The Theatre remains the major arts and cultural facility in Coventry and the only building-based professional producing theatre company in the city. It aims to present a broad spectrum of excellent work and produces a wide range of shows.

Whats On Spring/Summer Season 2018

"As you can imagine, we’re absolutely thrilled with the news that Coventry has been awarded City of Culture 2021. It’s an incredible opportunity for the city, and we’re very much looking forward to playing a major part in the year’s events.

Speaking of exciting future events, this summer all of our community groups will come together to work on a large-scale production in the former Coventry Evening Telegraph building opposite the Theatre. The production will play alongside a show from Mercurial Dance, and I’m sure it will be a fantastic spectacle.

Elsewhere in the season we have the usual mix of drama, music, musicals and comedy. I hope there’s plenty in there for you to enjoy, whatever your taste, and I look forward to seeing you back at the Belgrade this spring."

Hamish Glen, Artistic Director, Belgrade Theatre

Create Onsight have been working with the Belgrade Theatre for the last 4 years designing everything from the lastest show artwork for use on posters, billboards, adverts and promotional items to internal branding for the Cafe, leaflets, banner stands and of course the twice yearly What's On brochure.

A fresh new look for Coventry University's Leavers Info Pack

A fresh new look for Coventry University's Leavers Info Pack

"You may already know your future aspirations or you may want support to identify your interests, skills and the opportunities available to you. The Faculty of Arts and Humanities Employability Unit aims to help you navigate this next year and support you in your decision."

Our brief from Coventry University's Faculty of Arts and Humanities was to refresh and modernise the Information Pack for University Leavers. The pack provides students with guidance notes, a summary of support and services that are available when they leave, as well as information on the ways in which the University keeps in contact.

“Your life and career is a journey and we wish you the best in your discovery."

The design is clean and minimal with the use of quality, support imagery to create a spacious and easy to read document. The subsections are clearly defined by colour to enable the reader to access the information quickly whilst retaining a modern, approachable look and feel throughout.
